The anniversary of Hurricane Katrina brought a wave of bittersweet memories from my time spent rescuing abandoned pets from the New Orleans area. My husband and I, along with several other volunteers from LAPAW, spent a weekend in Gonzales caring for the pets at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

With an older dog, you need to take care of him for the first days, and let him know where everything in your home is.
